Moving from using my hands for Reiki healing to using them to distribute paint on a canvas was a natural progression. Using layers and texture I’ve mostly always painted with my hands never knowing what would emerge.  

These paintings belong to one of my earlier series of works when ‘discovery’ was at the forefront for me, both as a woman and an artist. During that time, I spent many solitary hours painting. It was a phase in my life when I would shut myself away from the world and use my painting practice as a way to meditate, self-regulate and learn about who I was becoming. Meanwhile I was making huge progress discovering new ways to move and manipulate paint using different tools and heat.  

My paintings have been referred to as energetic healing portals. Light and the natural world has always inspired what I paint. In the same way that nature can heal, it is important to me that my work has the opportunity to evoke healing experiences, as it does for me.
